You are cordially invited to submit a paper to APCHI 2008, Seoul, Korea. The APCHI has been the premier forum for presenting innovative research on the design and use of human-computer interaction studies since 1996. The theme of the APCHI 2008 is "universal & ubiquitous" to reflect growing social interests as well as needs in combining the technologies of ubiquitous computing and concepts of universal design. The conference will have three main tracks in Universal access to information and communication, Ubiquitous and pervasive computing, and Intelligent interactions. APCHI2008 includes formal paper sessions, demonstrations, posters, panels, and tutorials. Dual tracks (Universal & Ubiquitous) and friendly atmosphere would make the APCHI 2008 the ideal venue to meet researchers, practitioners, developers and policy makers to exchange ideas, share information, and make new contacts.
Submissions should present novel ideas, designs, techniques, systems, tools, evaluations, scientific investigations, methodologies, social issues or policy issues relating to the following topics, but not limited to:
- HCI method, practice, and theory
- HCI innovation
- Novel user interface design
- Mobile & ubiquitous computing
- Pervasive computing & embedded design
- Multimodal user interfaces
- HCI for older adults & users with disabilities
- Universal design & universal access
- Adaptive user interface
- Tangible space
- Web accessibility
- Assistive technologies that improve access to mainstream ICT
- Accessibility and usability of computing technologies
- Wearable computing
- Intelligent Agent-based computing
- Ambient Intelligence
- Natural Language Processing
- Convergence in ICT
- Context-aware computing
- HCI in automotive systems
- Human factors in computing systems
- Sociotechnical issues in HCI
- Standards and policies on HCI issues
- Quality of Life Technology
Submission
All submissions must be original work. The official language of the symposium is English.
Proposals may be of four types:
- papers
- posters and demonstration presentations
- panel sessions
- tutorials
The papers to be submitted for reviews only need to be half long of the final camera-ready format. That means the submitted papers for initial reviews are required to be 4-pages long for technical papers, and 1-page long for posters. The authos can use LNCS paper format. We recommend to use word or PDF templates for initial submission.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by an international panel. All submissions will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness. Papers must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. Accepted technical papers will be presented at the conference and will appear in the conference proceedings.
| Paper Presentations |
The final paper submissions should be a maximum of 10 pages (including figures and references). Full papers must be submitted anonymised with a separate cover page that contains the title of paper, name(s) of author(s), affiliation, address, contact phone or fax numbers, and e-mail address of corresponding author, as well as 3-5 keywords. At least an author should register early to be included in the program. |
Poster and Demonstration Presentations |
Posters and demonstration submissions should be a maximum 2 pages (including figures and references). These sessions will accommodate the presentation of late-breaking scientific findings and professional news. |
| Panel Sessions |
For a panel of 4-6 speakers, the panel organiser should submit an abstract of 500 words describing the panel topic, the names of all the speakers, and how it will be organized in terms of speaker participation. |
| Tutorials |
An abstract of 500 words should be submitted, including the objectives, content, target audience, a biographical sketch of the presenter(s), A/V requirements, and the intended level of contents covered. |
